Complex society

Sri Lankan culture is very complex even the Buddhism’s is the base religion of the Sri Lankan society the cultural complexity is huge within the people. Unlike in Indian context where they have many more cultures and many different religious thought the cultural definitions is not that complex. However the reason for these complexities is miserable and hard to understand.
After many different foreign evasions the society had closed the door to new thinking patters and we tried to protect what we have and we started to think that what we think is the best. Especially when it comes to religion people think that being Buddhist is the rarest present which they got.
Well I think that the Kandyan era and kandyan thinking patter had influenced our culture more than any other thing. In fact the kandyan traditional structure is dirty and hard to imagine that Buddhists can behave like this. Especially in wedding issues this complexity and dirtiness come to the play and people struggle with what they should really do for the wedding.
Even thou we come to the 21st century people are vulnerable with the virginity, most of the married males are proud to prove that they got married a virgin. I remember once a male guy told me that it is risky to marry a female without virginity in Sri Lanka. And also the dowry which is dirty than any other thing in the weddings in Sri Lanka. My aunty is the middle child of eight members frailly but she couldn’t get married due to the dowry issue and still she is unmarried. However, it is very danger to get the dowry from the wife; I remember a married couple was fighting in the Kandy Colombo train about their dowry.
h- All the land belong to you but the business are belong to me they are developed by me by my hand you don’t come to tell me what to with them.
v- But those businesses come to you after you married me all the business come after I started feeding you therefore some parts of them belong to me also therefore don’t think about changing the property without my obligation.
H-ok good everything belong to you all I belong is this clothes and shoes tomorrow I will start a new business with them don’t come again
Sri |Lankan wedding system casting system is made with its own society. The economic background decide many more thing what to what to be in the open society. The cast system was heavily powerful in the Kandy. I remember when I was doing the measured drawing in my first year sitting and eating in the Ambalam floor made me low cast student and one of my friends’ mother refused to talk with me. Sometimes it is very hard do imagine the thinking pattern in Sri Lankan society people have different attitude for same thing. My grand father lives in Chilow in the upper part of the Sri Lanka in the early mooring we used to go fishing parties in the nearest beach at around 6.00 am we used start ride bicycles and it was ten kilometer journey. after we seek the beach my grand father never let me touch the fishing net because touching the fishing net can made me a own cast one.
Well I thing the cast system is danger than the virginity because now with the modern development the virginity is not a big deal for youths. But because of the parental influences the modern youths very much of vulnerable with the cast system. In fact in my university there are three girls who refused to stay in hostlers with low cast people and they change their hostel to their own private bodeem place where they can select who should come to their bodeem place.
For them it is not a big deal but for me it is weird sometimes I feel fishy with them even talking with makes me vomit. Because while I talk with them I used to imagine how fishy they are and how bad they are. But what to do it is very hard to change the society by my selves. Therefore with my experience Sri Lankan society is much more complex and dirty.

TISSUE IS A BIG ISSUE IN SRI LANAKA

Sri Lanka has the highest literacy rate in South Asia and its’ education system far better than the most of the developed countries in the world. However even thou the development of the education is good the ethical sense and the moral endurance is very well weak. In fact the extending generation is worse and cheaper than the past open economic society.
Actuality parents thinking better than their own children and they are ok with the upcoming trends, they don’t need to overcome their life. But in here Colombo the situation became worse people are thinking their own cast and the life level system and they use this scenario for their own satisfaction. The bad situation is that in side of the universities people are measuring their own imageries through a traditional glass.
However today evening inside of the university there was a party of Tamil student which I also invited in the sense I had participated to the part. So when I was chatting with I got to know there are two groups one group is low cast and the other group is high cast………      . What a shame?
I don’t understand after the war and all those disasters why the society doesn’t go forward. Most of the youths are surrender in front of their elders.  In Kandy and in side of the country side the situation is worse, recently a couple divorced due to a virgin issue.  Most of those scenes are common where the third generation become weak to the first generation.
In funeral situation we used to chat philosophical thing which I don’t like (I don’t like= talking one subject without making it true) but I remember one professor told that when he got married his wife didn’t had the virginity, he is ok but in the sense it meant that his subconscious had expect his wife to keep the virginity for him. That’s the point ….. People may have different attitudes for one thing that’s ok --- but for the moral extinctions people should have one common rule which should be utmost good faith right thing in the world. I have friend who like to talk about sex without having sex ever before I remember he used to say “I should keep my Virginity to marry a virgin” in the sense what the connection between the virginity and marriage they are two different subject which become related in only few minutes for a day.
Well I don’t have a right to talk about somebody’s virginity and in fact I don’t know weather how will I respond to that. But I believe to solve this problem we have only one solution it is we should make a synthetic virginity like condoms to reload the virginity and be fresh for the next time. In my school time we had no idea about this and that but we used to read to find where it is exactly. But after understanding the woman I realized that finding the virginity is not fair for the woman and even in any case we should forgive and forget to live in the society as an intellectual person who understand thing deeper than the animals.

The role of an architect

Architecture is something related to human feelings, human feeling is not always rational. But the building itself is in a form of rationalistic way and the process of the construction is much more rational. However the architect is there to create the spatial progression and combine all the other building materials together to make a better living space.  But our architect in this small context there to do everything sometimes architect are responsible all the bullshit happen in side of the site and the construction part of the building. Therefore we need to understand the role of an architect inside of this little context.
In my case our case most of the people don’t know who is an architect. Recently I met a set of family they think that the architect is the person who decide the vastu so they start asking from me about vastu science. And  working people think that we are like engineers its sometimes true that we are responsible for the structure, but I think that the society should define the role of the architect or else  the architects should make a noise to render what is the architects role.
When I was in Jaffna people used to observe the architect because in Jaffna the architect is the only person who designs the temple (devala). So they have enormous faith on the architect. Really what they do was they do a painting on the temple wall and say the bass people that this is the temple plan and this is how you should make the temple. However for this drawing they make special wall in the temple land and give devotees to the wall. It was a strange for me because for the first time I have seen somebody worshiping the plan of a building.
Whatever is the reason we also struggle in the working places how we should behave in front of the people, people have different appearance and approach to the profession.  So it is good if somebody had defined the profession. But then again in the construction who would be the responsible for the product making process of the building. Who would be the responsible for the construction process?

Why the old generation resist the new generation

I’m an architecture student whenever I came with brand new idea the tradition of the university is to resist the new idea and motivate us to do whatever they are interested in their own dreams. In fact in most cases most of our batch mates surrender in front o f them and do whatever they want to do satisfy the audience not their selves. So the knowledge of the society don’t develop faster, the university is become place for keeping traditional ideas and conserve them for an alien museum.
And also even the little bit of them come out with new ideas and failed to showoff the possibilities of the fresh concepts. However now we need to inspire and collaborate we should think fresh and open our mind to think and motive to create new things in the university. In fact the university should be there to experiment not to repeat what is available in the internet or in big books in the library. Uni guys are there to imagine new ideas and show to the society the possibilities of the future and threshold of the brain capacity which we have.
The tradition should be conserved no argument but it doesn’t mean that the tradition should be the king and the radicalism is soldiers in the game. I like to challenge the tradition and create an environment to change the world innovate new ideas.

Architecture should ready for the future; Top 5 Predictions For Future 25 Years

1. Everything you say and do will be recorded by 2030. By the late 2010s, ubiquitous, unseen nanodevices will provide seamless communication and surveillance among all people everywhere. Humans will have nanoimplants, facilitating interaction in an omnipresent network. Everyone will have a unique Internet Protocol (IP) address. Since nano storage capacity is almost limitless, all conversation and activity will be recorded and recoverable. -Gene Stephens, “Cybercrime in the Year 2025,” July-Aug 2008, p. 34
2. The car’s days as king of the road may soon be over. More powerful wireless communication that reduces demand for travel, flying delivery drones to replace trucks, and policies to restrict the number of vehicles owned in each household are among the developments that could thwart the automobile’s historic dominance on the environment and culture. If current trends were to continue, the world would have to make way for a total of 3 billion vehicles on the road by 2025. -Thomas J. Frey, “Disrupting the Automobile’s Future,” Sep-Oct 2008, p. 39 et seq.

3. There may not be world law in the foreseeable future, but the world’s legal systems will be networked. The Global Legal Information Network (GLIN), a database of local and national laws for more than 50 participating countries, will grow to include more than 100 counties by 2010. The database will lay the groundwork for a more universal understanding of the diversity of laws between nations and will create new opportunities for peace and international partnership. -Joseph N. Pelton, “Toward a Global Rule of Law: A Practical Step Toward World Peace,” Nov-Dec 2007, p. 25
4. Professional knowledge will become obsolete almost as quickly as it’s acquired. An individual’s professional knowledge is becoming outdated at a much faster rate than ever before. Most professions will require continuous instruction and retraining. Rapid changes in the job market and work-related technologies will necessitate job education for almost every worker. At any given moment, a substantial portion of the labor force will be in job retraining programs. -Marvin J. Cetron and Owen Davies, “Trends Shaping Tomorrow’s World, Part Two,” May-June 2008, p 41
5. Urbanization will hit 60% by 2030. As more of the world’s population lives in cities, rapid development to accommodate them will make existing environmental and socioeconomic problems worse. Epidemics will be more common due to crowded dwelling units and poor sanitation. Global warming may accelerate due to higher carbon dioxide output and loss of carbon-absorbing plants. -Marvin J. Cetron and Owen Davies, “Trends Shaping Tomorrow’s World, Part One,” Mar-Apr 2008, p. 52

concrete slabs

Making concrete slab is the hardest part in the upstairs building constructions. However the form work and the iron mesh are the most important parts of the concrete slab the form work should be correctly done and the electrical and plumbing should be properly layer to the form work without disturbing the structure of the concrete slab.
In the end should be fixed to the meson worker to check whether they are doing the job very well and up to the standers. In most cases they did whatever they want to do in the site and make a disaster for us. Recently I’ve visited house in Piliyandala; the wall of the house was cracked due to the lack of strength in the load bearing columns around the house. Actually most of the walls cracked and ready to fall down. In that kind of situation we have no choice we have to remake the whole structure and redo the concrete slab to maintain the structure long last.

other than everything in the slab before the concreting i like the naked slab form work with electrical and iron mesh........ its fascinating texture

watch out for new ice age -Colombo’s temperature level continues to drop rapidly

My Idol

Jane Mcgonigal is a playful human being

Mumtaz mahal

Anuradhapura and Pollonaruwa was once a kingdom for powerful lions but after centuries away the place became ruined to the forest. Just like that Mumtaz mahal was once the Sri Lankan parliament speakers’ palace but now it is the palace of bats and thieves. However the existing building shows us the glory of the past.
